Illinois Tollway Systemwide All Electronic Tolling
Description
All toll collection locations on the Illinois Tollway system are equipped with electronic toll collection equipment. Most are also equipped to accept cash tolls. The system is gradually being converted to all electronic collection. Tolls for vehicles unequipped with toll transponders are collected via other methods, such as license plate recognition or in the long term with vehicle based RFID tags. All new interchanges or facilities will be constructed to be all electronic tolling, no cash accepted.
