Each stakeholder agency, company, or group owns, operates, maintains or plans ITS systems in the region. The Regional ITS Architecture inventory is a list of "elements" that represent all existing and planned ITS systems in a region as well as non–ITS systems that provide information to or get information from the ITS systems.

CN Real Time Crossing InformationWhen CN purchased the EJ&E Railroad, there was concern about increased rail freight impact on emergency response in Will County. The CN established a real time freight crossing status system, which provides crossing status to the Will County emergency responders. It is integrated into the Will 911 computer aided dispatch system.

It collects traveler and transportation related information: congestion, travel times, incidents, construction, camera images, DMS signs, and special events information for the LMIGA region. It provides links to transit schedule information and weather. Gateway Central also acts as a communication hub for information that is shared between agencies. It feeds data to the TravelMidwest.com website.

IDOT Arterial Construction Closure Application WebsiteThe Illinois Department of Transportation ITS Program Office has added an online Lane Closure System available at www.idotlcs.com. Contractors register with the system and enter closure requests online. IDOT D1 staff then review the closure requests and approve or reject the closures. The system sends out email communications to contractors information them of their closure request status. Daily closure reports are also sent to the Gateway, other IDOT staff and interested third parties.
IDOT Automated License Plate / USDOT Number Reader (ALPR)The Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) in conjunction with the Illinois State Police implemented a pilot project to discover the viability of automated license plate and USDOT number reader technology as an enforcement and compliance tool and installed a fixed–site Automated License Plate Reader / Automated USDOT Reader (ALPR/AUR) system at the Maryville weigh station on Interstate 55 near East St. Louis and purchased a mobile system with similar characteristics installed in a van. The ALPR van is being used in conjunction with enforcement details in the Chicago region.

IDOT Bureau of Bridges and Structures Remote Bridge Control System Command CenterCurrently controls six operable IDOT bridges over the Des Plaines River in Joliet, IL. Each of the six bridges is subject to both automobile and pedestrian traffic, while the thoroughfare below is subject to varying levels of maritime traffic, both commercial and private. Each bridge is monitored at all times from its respective local bridge house by an IDOT operator, IDOT is seeking to implement an automation process to control all 6 bridges from one remote location (Bridge St. office). A command center houses the monitoring of all six bridges by three (3) operators at any given time with 3 operator stations, each with the ability to view and control any one of the six bridges and its associated cameras.

IDOT Commercial Vehicle Information Exchange Window (CVIEW)The (CVIEW) is an electronic data exchange system that provides carrier and vehicle safety and credential information to fixed and mobile roadside inspection stations, state agencies, state and local law enforcement, and other third party users. This information allows roadside inspectors (either manually or with the aid of an electronic screening system) to select vehicles for inspection based on summaries of prior inspections of the carrier for which the vehicle and driver is currently operating, as well as carrier, vehicle, and driver safety and credential historical information. The on–line system allows retrieval by enforcement personnel of Oversize – Overweight permits issued by the Illinois Department of Transportation, Uniform Carrier Registration system ( "UCR") registration receipts issued by the Illinois Commerce Commission (ICC), International Registration Plan ( "IRP") carrier and vehicle registrations issued by the Illinois Secretary of State (SOS) and International Fuel Tax Agreement System ( "IFTA") carrier tax filings received by the Illinois Department of Revenue.

IDOT District 1 ComCenterThe Communications Center acts as the 24–hour incident management and operations center for IDOT District 1 and has control over the HAR system and the Kennedy Expressway reversible lane control (RevLac) system and operates DMS. Provides information to the Gateway Traveler Information system and hosts GTIS staff 24/7/365 collocation. ComCenter also dispatches all maintenance and ETP vehicles.

Pace Security EquipmentThese would include both on–board and at transit facilities security cameras. In future, these may be fed live to supervisor/police/emergency responder vehicles, shared with OEMC, control center.
Pace Transit Bus VehiclesFixed route transit vehicles operated by Pace. Equipped with onboard technology for vehicle location, fare, and passenger counting. Some are equipped with transit priority signal transmitters. There are a number of different types. This element includes specialized buses such as coach types, arterial rapid transit buses, or BRT vehicles which may be branded and have different amenities. Future buses may include lane–keeping technologies for bus on shoulder use in narrower lanes and lane–assist for extreme weather conditions.

Port of Chicago Intermodal FacilitiesThe Port of Chicago is a key terminus for ship, rail, and trucking in the region. It comprises facilities at Iroquois Landing Lakefront Terminus and at Lake Calumet.
PPP Chicago Parking Management systemParking management in place for City owned lots and on–street parking in Chicago. The Parking Management Subsystem (PMS) provides electronic monitoring and management of parking facilities. It allows electronic collection of parking fees and monitors and controls parking meters that support conventional parking fee collection. It also includes the instrumentation, signs, and other infrastructure that monitors parking lot usage and provides local information about parking availability and other general parking information.
PPP CTA Ventra Farecard Vending MachinesThis includes farecard vending machines for fare cards located at rapid transit stations, local merchants, and Union Station.
PPP Fare Management SystemBack office fare management system. The private partner collects the fares from electronic farecards and credit cards, and transmits funds to participating transit agencies. CDOT (Divvy), CTA and Pace are currently participating in this type of partnership.
PPP Private Roadway Field EquipmentField equipment owned by private partners in public–private partnerships. This currently includes red light running cameras and some Illinois Tollway traffic detection devices.
PPP Transit Fare EquipmentA private partner owns the electronic fare collection equipment on the Pace and CTA systems. They maintain the onboard and station electronic fare equipment and manage the back office payment system. Pace and CTA own and operate the cash fare collection boxes on board and in stations.

Regional Transit Asset Management System (RTAMS)Regional Transportation Asset Management System (RTAMS) provides planning and financial information on the transportation system in the northeastern Illinois areas surrounding Chicago. RTAMS allows users ti access transit and tollway data through an interactive map.
Regional Transit Ventra CardRegional farecard for use on all CTA and Pace transit vehicles. With the new Ventra fare payment system, credit cards can also be used as farecards.
Regional Transportation Authority Travel Information Center (TIC)The RTA Travel Information Center (TIC) currently collects static route, schedule and fare information from the three RTA Service Boards, and uses it to provide information over the phone to travelers in the RTA region. The TIC uses its Itinerary Planning System (IPS) to provide information to callers in the form of specific origin to destination trip plans. In the future, this may be enhanced by real time data.
Revenue collection systems.The primary responsibility of the Department of Revenue is to serve as the tax collection agency for state government and for local governments. The department regulates the manufacture, distribution, and sale of alcoholic beverages. The department also oversees local property tax assessments, and functions as the funding agent for the Illinois Housing Development Authority.
